Commercial Litigation Attorneys Specializing in Handling Antitrust and Trade Regulation Matters and White Collar Criminal Defense

The Atlanta law firm of Vaughan & Murphy is eminently qualified and exceptionally experienced in handling both the prosecution and defense of complex commercial litigation matters, with an emphasis on those raising antitrust and trade regulation claims. We represent businesses and executives throughout Georgia and the Southeastern United States in civil litigation asserting complex claims arising under federal and state antitrust, trade regulation (Federal Trade Commission and other federal agencies), trade secret and unfair competition (Federal Lanham Act) laws. We also regularly represent both companies and individuals in both federal grand jury proceedings and in the defense of white collar criminal charges, especially those relating to violations of antitrust and related criminal laws.

Our solid reputation as Georgia antitrust litigation attorneys owes to our practice focus, dedication to the law, and invaluable prior experience. Practicing since 1973, Charles Murphy gained extensive knowledge and sharpened his litigation skills as a former prosecutor in the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice and, prior to that, as an attorney with the Federal Trade Commission, handling both competition and consumer protection matters. Since leaving the U.S. Department of Justice in 1980, Mr. Murphy has represented countless companies and individuals in matters investigated and prosecuted by the Antitrust Division and United States Attorneys offices.

Vaughan & Murphy is based in Atlanta, Georgia and represents clients across the Southeastern United States, including Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina. Our clientele has also included foreign companies and executives trading in the U.S. We possess both the knowledge and experience to represent clients in a wide range of business litigation and criminal matters, including:

  • Criminal defense of White Collar cases, especially, those arising under the federal antitrust laws (price fixing, bid rigging and related fraud and bribery charges). We have also successfully defended criminal tax fraud and currency structuring charges.
  • Handling commercial litigation matters (both on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants), again, especially regarding claims under the federal antitrust laws such as conspiracy in restraint of trade, monopolization, attempts to monopolize, conspiracy to monopolize, tying arrangements and price discrimination.
  • Proactive counseling to corporations on compliance with antitrust laws.
  • Litigation of disputes arising out of employment agreements, contracts and other commercial and business matters.
  • Mediation and arbitration of commercial, antitrust, employment and other matters.
  • Litigation (both on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants) in class action lawsuits, including representation of opt-out parties.

Vaughan & Murphy offers extensive familiarity and success in navigating the Department of Justice's leniency or amnesty program on behalf of clients. When we are not able to negotiate an acceptable resolution for our clients, our reputation and experience as aggressive antitrust litigation attorneys are potent advantages.
